First Day of VBS

Jessica at the Orphanage

Jessica at the Orphanage

Today was our first day of VBS at our location in the city.  We were pretty busy so I didn’t have many of pictures of that time.  But, afterward we went to an orphanage and we got more shots of that.  This one with Jesssica shows three of the girls and one boy named Joel.  Which sounded like JO - eL.  If that makes sense.  We had about 40 kids at the VBS. We got there a little late because we couldn’t find our name tags.  But, when we pulled up there were kids waiting!  We started with some games and then went into some camp songs and worship.  Whitney and Jess lead “Go Bananas” and Tooty Tot.  Bruce and Lauren did some fun worship songs and then we split up into games and crafts.   Zack, Derek, Bruce and I did games.  It was so Hot!  Running around in the heat was really tough, and our ball popped a hole in it, so we had to resort to the parachute, which was still a lot of fun.  Lauren led the craft time with Jessica, Whitney, Sarah, Mollie, and Shanda.  They made a drum and the older kids made necklaces and bracelets.  Tomorrow we are doing tye dye.  Jessica, Zack and I did todays skit and then we shared about Peter and how he was changed when he met Jesus face to face.  The orphanage was a lot easier of a time.  There were about 10 kids, between 6 and 12.  We did the parachute, played games, sang some worship songs, a message, and Whitney shared her testimony.  She did a great job.  The kids we’re incredibly loving and enjoyed spending time with us.

Here are some words from Jessica: Today we went to an orphanage called Calvary  Hill.  I enjoyed going to the orphanage the best because we got to spend one on one time with the kids.  I met a girl named Sasha and I painted her fingers and toes and just got to talk with her.  One of the funniest things that happened today was when the kids at the orphanage started to guess our ages and they all guessed that I was in my thirtys (How Sad!).  We all had a really good first day and I can’t wait to do more.
